Personal Work - 50mm Lens project

Yesterday I was back home in Morecambe on business. I set myself a challenge -  'One hour to shoot with one lens' - a 50mm 'standard' lens. Arguably one of the most difficult lenses to use, I set myself challenges like this all the time, with a different fixed focal length lens - to keep 'match fit'. With no comfort of having a zoom control, using a 50mm means a lot of walking around to compose images. It also focuses you as a photographer into pre-visualising the image, and waiting patiently for things to happen. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't...

So, during my hour I had a total weather change from sunny to heavy showers, wet roads, pigeons...more pigeons and seagulls.

In all I took around thirty images. Here are my favourites...

  1. A great idea to keep 'match fit' as you say. Love the pigeons taking off, terrific!

  2. Cheers Andrew - I do it all the time, but don't always blog about it....24mm, 35mm and 85mm lenses especially.
